Take a minute to think about WHY you love Texas art. As we all know, Texas is unique among states in prizing all things related to it. Artists from Lungkwitz to Surls have drawn inspiration from the Lone Star State. Perhaps you love Texas landscapes, or portraits of native sons and daughters, or Texas genre scenes-or Modernist works that somehow embody the spirit we all know as Texan.

Since 1998, CASETA has had a mission "to promote the preservation, study, and appreciation of Texas visual arts and its history." In its first decade, CASETA has achieved much:

SYMPOSIUM & TEXAS ART FAIR: An enthusiastic annual gathering of scholars, collectors, museum staff, and the general public to hear presentations on Early Texas Art topics, see Texas art firsthand, compare notes, and enjoy the collegiality of the occasion.

EXHIBITIONS & PUBLICATIONS: Partnerships with museums, historical societies, and presses throughout the state to present exhibitions and publications on Early Texas Art.

EDUCATION: Production of instructional materials on Early Texas Art for classroom use, along with teacher training workshops on the curricula.

ORAL HISTORIES: Support for creating archives and producing oral histories on Early Texas Art and artists.

NEWSLETTERS & WEB SITE: E-newsletters and a Web site to keep the network of Texas art aficionados connected and informed.

AWARDS: Annual presentations of cash awards to promote new research, scholarship, and publication in the field of Early Texas Art.

WHY should you support CASETA? Your love of Texas art means you want to know more about it and recognize all CASETA is doing to preserve and promote it.
